Weekly Update for October 1 - 5, 2012

6th Grade:
Monday: Finish worksheet from Abiotic-Biotic Outdoor Adventure with groups. Individually  write 3 paragraphs describing characteristics of each ecosystem.
Tuesday: Read page 10 as a class. With a partner: 1. Create a naturally occurring food chain (ecosystem of your choice). 2. Add to food chain with a colored pencil to make make it into a naturally occurring food web.
Wednesday: Types of Interactions - Read pages 14,15. Record notes using a thinking map (Tree Map). Update vocabulary booklet.
Thursday: Read pages 16, 17 as a class. Record notes using a thinking map (Double-bubble) to compare predator and prey. Update vocabulary booklet.
Friday: Paper due. Do activity from Tuesday (food chain/web)

7th Grade:
Monday: Physical and Chemical Changes pretest
Tuesday: Pass out vocabulary booklet. Read (assign individually) pages 4,7. Record notes using a thinking map (Tree Map). Have matter at top branching into volume and mass. Define volume and mass. Also assign a Double-bubble thinking map to compare mass and weight.
Wednesday: Read (partners) pages 82, 88, 89, 90. Complete Cornell Notes-Atoms worksheet. Update vocabulary booklet.
Thursday: Warm-up - Amazing Atom Facts worksheet. Assign Atoms and Matter worksheet and Atomic Structure worksheet (with partner)
Friday: Assign Before and After Reading Strategy for Molecules. Have students complete before part individually, read article individually, and then complete after questions with a partner.
