Weekly Update for December 2-6, 2013

6th Grade Science:
Monday: Finish continental drift lab activity. Discuss lab sheet and results.
Tuesday: Discuss web site: Plate Boundaries - Bing Images. Read pages 108, 109. Assign tree map of tectonic plate boundaries.
Wednesday: Begin Convection Connection lab. Review density using classroom posters and demonstration comparing granite and pumas in water. You-tube video (3D Convection currents and Tectonic Plates, Plate Tectonics and Convection). Research knowledge step for question(s), page 110, on separate sheet of paper from lab sheet. Also, make prediction.
Thursday: Convection Connection lab demonstration and lab sheet completion
Friday: Tectonic plates model cut and paste. Draw direction plates are moving.

7th Grade Science:
Monday:  Lab: Science Slime. Have students complete a T-chart that is labeled "Properties Before" and "Properties After".
Tuesday: Go over chemical change unit test. New unit: Photosynthesis. Review of prior knowledge and preview unit expectations.
Wednesday: Continue/finish group questions. Plan investigation outlining what plants need to survive and how they get their food.
Thursday: Design an investigation that blocks light from different parts of the plant (leaves and stem). Computer lab room 23. Research for lab.
Friday: Continue lab from yesterday using light as the variable. Also, enclose the green growth of one plant inside a clear bag to see the result of no air on the plant's health. Be sure to include a control group.
